I agree, it's a slight change in vote distribution. E.g. in Clacton last time it was Con 72%, Lab 15%, whereas this time it was Con+Ref 74%, Lab 16%. In a way we've probably had Ukippy MPs all along, only hidden behind a blue rosette.

Absolutely. However, having it unveiled is enabling and normalizing in a way that will have devastating consequences. The extreme right winning in France last week has already generated a surge in open racism.
