I mean, we know the guy had chronic depression and as a younger man refused to carry a pocket knife because he suspected he would use it on himself in a low moment. It is almost like “strong man President lead strong country” is antithetical to actual leadership.

I think people don’t realize that the President isn’t micromanaging every decision like a Bridezilla planning a wedding. We should care most about his hiring abilities and management skills, which we know Trump sucks at and how he does try to micromanage everything.

Once the parties started (and I will sound dumb but Hamilton is truly maybe the best way to explain how parties developed to someone who doesn’t know a lot about US History) this meant that the Pres and Vp were from different parties. We didn’t change that for…a while.

But the actual idea of the country doesn’t include parties. The idea is that you were choosing individuals not a party. Like, initially the VP was the person who got the second most votes for President. That’s how much they didn’t consider parties.

Serious answer: political parties are not in the US Constitution or an official part of governance and historically have had less cohesion than parties in parliamentary systems. They came about because early on in the Nation’s history people realized that parties were a way to win elections.

This is BTW how I came out of the psychotic break. My brain was lying to me and I had to constantly doubt what it told me. It is exhausting. It takes time. The point is to make you too tried to care. The NYT op-ed is what the they want: don’t vote and absolve yourself of worry for what happens.

I have mentioned before that when I was 18 I had a full psychotic break but that felt less “crazy” than currently with the media coverage of the election. My only suggestion is to not trust anything you hear before you verify and “reality test”. Use logic. Doubt everything.

My Mom, since the most recent divorce, has become a news junkie*. All MSNBC and CNN all day. She is in full panic mode they Biden is completely brain damaged and must step aside now (but not resign as President). Her sister watches 1 hour a day and is like “both of them looked bad in debate”.

It’s also possible the court would come to the totally different result and say that you still can’t inquire into it pointing to the immunity! Until a specific HC case comes before them nobody knows!

Well, the fun thing is that it is possible for a court to distinguish the situations because the immunity case dealt with criminal immunity. The court could say “this evidence couldn’t be used in a criminal case because it is an official act, but we can inquire into it when determining Habeas.

Because Korematsu was overruled in an unrelated case with different facts all we know is that the decision itself is not good law and that forcible imprisonment based on race is illegal. But what is unclear is if the reasoning used in that case is also repudiated or just the result.

What is to stop this same court from saying that imprisoning all people who have given money to bail funds for protestors as enemies of the state is a valid official act? (Distinguished from Korematsu because that was based on race and not acts)?

Even better, note that he says “illegally imprison” but what would that mean under this decision? Roberts has said that he believes Korematsu was wrongly decided because that was illegal detention, but if it is based on something other than race does that make it okay? Who knows!

In my experience it just takes about a week for state inmate databases to figure that info since you don’t just need to know sentence but any time served already and any additional good time calc. (If applicable).

This language is really popular in new age communities (not surprising with the energies language) with a MLM Boss Babe crossover. In both cases it is people who may not have accomplishments to stand on their own and instead adopt a type of group pride through their gender.

I agree that he should clarify although I also worry that whatever he says will become what gets targeted in red states (if he says 18 then they will want laws for 21). I’m personally okay with a sort of “I am against it personally but I’m also not a doctor so I will leave it up to them”.

Is he against surgery in all cases? Is he against it personally but recognizes that is should be allowed in the law (sort of like his position on abortion). He has made no move to remove a trans woman as head of HHS or to act to undo what they did.

I want to update this from further reading. This first sentence is key. After an article about the HHS thing (which the right wing used to say Biden wanted surgery for all children with no limits) an official said he is against surgery for minors. But, we don’t know more than that.

I spent the morning chasing down a twitter account a relative listens to and sends me as truth. I’m 99% sure it is a troll farm operation (normal posting in 2013 about family stuff and then 3 year gap to Trump and never a single personal photo or tag to a relative again).
