Without IVF, I would not be a father. When the Southern Baptists condemn IVF, they are saying that the wish my child did not exist.
The Southern Baptist church has been on the wrong side of history since its inception.
This illustrates two of my biggest gripes with most "organized" religions;
1)They work to regress the hard earned progress of the human race, especially when it comes to health and reproduction.
And
2)They steal the credit of bonafide human achievement and lob it at the feet of their diety instead
Isn't their entire point that if they are reviled and on the wrong side of history it means they're doing it right? There's no fighting such an insane interpretation of faith.
AWoman! My father belonged to SBC - he was a pastor, a Repug, and a pedophile. He told my Mom how to move, cook, and breathe. I knew many of them, and they were all just like my dad.
What’s absolutely wild is that my aunt and uncle who used to be Southern Baptist and are still very conservative evangelicals conceived all four of their children (two sets of twins) via IVF in the 80s and 90s. I’m not sure what they think of recent developments because I don’t talk to them much.
My sister had ovarian cancer and an oophorectomy in her mid-20s, and only had my niece with IVF
These people want to impose life-transforming harm on families based on…nothing?
