Well that was the funniest thing at the time, I had no boss, which was terrifying at the time. Luckily there were people around at the time, who were thankfully very frank with me, and happy to give me the guidance I needed while they were around, but opened my eyes to how bad toxic positivity is

Toxic positivity is the worst, it makes my blood boil. I had to deal with it in a professional setting, where it was like, I need guidance and help not some empty platitudes about how all of a sudden i was empowered to make decisions. to be faced with it, in the wider issues of the world as well

I can see why that would be the case for some readers. I think, that is what kept me drawn in, it kind of felt like every character was in peril and I wanted to see if they would make it through to the next chapter. definitely a personal taste thing,

I think this is probably one of the best explanations I've ever seen about it. This has added a whole new level of clarity to understanding it even more. Exactly, that feeling, like the themes are setting it up and the stuff going on around that PoV Character, but you assume the opposite,

So many aspects of Ramsay's arc annoyed the every living shit out of me, especially with how they handled Roose in it. Roose was a peice of shit, but he was always cautious, like his death, had me like, what the hell

Yup, and 100% yes. To be adversarial to your audience, is I think the death knell of a work. They definitely missed the point of the whole subversion in GoT, and I have always thought, with GoT, that is the sort of thing I would like to do with my work, take tropes and genre conventions and flip 'em

If people guess my ending or my plot twists, that means I’ve done a good job of writing, and they’re interested enough to pay attention. It’s a compliment! Then they get to enjoy some dramatic irony as they watch the characters unknowingly stumble right into it.

you do not change it. It is also why "Subverting expectations" now gets me annoyed, because most people assume, it is whatever those two did. When it subverting expectations is all about taking a genre, tropes ect and turning them on their head.

This is the greatest gripe I've had with Benioff and Wiess, and I will bang that drum. They needed to be smarter than the audience, so they had to create convoluted unearned twists with no set up. Even though GRRM said, if you leave clues to say the Butler did it, and your readers guess the butler

100% this, they deserve ridicule and humilation. Considering their ideas "Worthy of debate" only serves to meet them on their terms, which is the terms that they seek to legitimise their heinous ideas through the medium of debate

He is an absolute cockwomble of the highest order, how can this be the same man who implemented things like the Human Rights Act amongst other things. But that is I think emblematic of Blairism isn't it, absolutely vacuous and inherently reactionary (explains a lot about his biggest celebrity fans)

Oh, of course, I think that is emblematic of the stereotypical "elder statesman"- they typically have nothing left to offer, but the political class do, and they always go out of their way to style themself as having something to still contribute

Yeah, there are definite exceptions to the rule. Those like Blair or Kissinger, who want to cling to relevance and influence definitely make up the bulk of the elder statesperson.

Tone policing and "respectability politics" is just a way to muzzle people and keep us from speaking up. It is an absolute piss take to demand that we watch our tone

This is why I despise "elder Statesmen" as a concept, it gives wankers like Tony Blair the ability to cling onto influence after they pretty much trashed their legacy

It's good that they lost, and I hope it sends a message to those in power, that bigotry and pandering to them isn't the solution. I think we will see a similar reaction, from Nigel Farage being a piss baby when he doesn't get all the time to be a vulgar wanker in the Commons.

Having seen something similar recently in the UK, it is wild. They will say shit like that, and then go and court the bigots but still feel entitled to your vote because "We need to kick the other party out." I do not get how they think, this is a good strategy

It's quiet telling how bigots who were running in the election recently, is how they feel entitled to be an MP. The terfs that got kicked, complaining that they lost, and members of the Workers Party complaining that greens didn't stand down and let them have the votes so they could win a seat

the "impartiallity of the BBC" insists, that they must have the worst bigot to speak on any issue. At least that is the conclusion I have reached. Anyone who wants to buy into Farage's but "we will not tolerate homophobia and racism in our party" is a fool, as the company he still keeps is telling

The lack of critical analysis around Reform and how bigotry is baked into them as a party, is so frustrating, especially when coupled with the growth of the Greens (as they have a vast local presence now, like if you compare reform to them. Reform are a non-entity, but they get the attention)

The fact he has refused to indicate whether he would leave GBNews, or if he would be swanning off to the States to support Trump, I think says it all. he wants to maintain his grift, but he cannot say if he will do those things, because it would mean not spending any time in his constituency

Reform, is also built around Farage and his personality. He is their "Glorious leader", so I would be curious to see what happens if someone has a public disagreement with him. Like UKIP withered on the vine, after Farage's departure, wouldn't be surprised if Reform would collapsed in the same way,

I think the position of Reform is overstated, and it is only really amplified by the British Press/Media. Before Farage retook leadership, the party was almost a non-entity, Tice doesn't pull an audience like the king tosser himself. But what is the party beyond its 4 seats and farage 🧵

The greens however, have a strong grassroots campaign strategy being built, they have a local presence and credentials to back themselves up and deserve more attention for it. They are at least putting forward ideas that can improve lives, reform's agenda is just bigotry and tax cuts

but, that will not keep it going forever. An absent MP without good reason to their constituents gets kicked in at the polls (A PM is usually safe, as being PM adds so many additional duties). The people of Clacton, are unlikely to be well served by Farage, and that might in fact be his downfall

The Greens on the other hand, have 800+ local council seats, + 4 MPs and 3 London Assembly members. Yet, they get none of the coverage that Farage and his mouthy racists get. Reforms appeal, is a protest against a westminister that doesn't hear local complaints. Farage offers platitudes and blame

It holds 15 local council seats across the UK, and 1 London Assembly seat. It's staying power at westminister, is wholly based on, what I think, is a general contempt for the westminister bubble. A lot of MPs, lack ties to their consituencies and are careerists within their party

I'm not sure Farage will have the staying power, there will be the expectation for him to actually work and show up for his constiuents. I don't think he will, he was extremely absent at the EU, only turning up when he could make it a media circus.- Like on the fisheries committee, never attended

Just as an aside, she didn't win the original civil trial in the UK. It was the News Group Newspapers, who won their defense on calling Depp a "wife beater" in which they had overwhelming evidence to substantiate calling him such.
