There used to be a sauna world championship competition. But in 2010, the last two were one Finnish guy and a Russian guy. The Finn fell into a coma, and the Russian guy died. We haven't had the competition since, so I guess Finns are perpetual champions?

The guy is 81 years old. He's going to have senior moments. In fact, he is surprisingly lucid. On the other hand, Trump is about the same age but has the cognitive abilities of a dry mushroom. I don't know what's going on under the hood, but it's definitely nothing good.

I don't know what you use it for, but at least for the relatively simple scientific illustrations I make, Inkscape does the job quite nicely. Just has a bit steeper learning curve than Illustrator.

Whatever my students used didn't have the faintest clue on how to find the modes of a waveguide. And when AI gets good enough to solve that, I will redesign the problems so that AI can't solve them, but students who read the lecture material can.

At first I was deeply disappointed that the majority of students in my course used AI to "solve" homework assignments (AI is quite bad at photonics). But then I realized that it allows me to identify the few students who have real potential and don't rely on shortcuts. So I'll just focus on them.

About a decade ago, they had the idea of making a fact checking plugin. Like if you just browse random websites, it would highlight passages with red, yellow, or green depending on how accurate a claim is according to well-known fact checkers. It never saw the light of day.
