good point. Maybe "restriction" wasn't the best word, but college soccer is holding back the best players from the type of development they need to get to be competitive on the international stage

No one else in the world ties "training for a career in pro sports" with university attendance because objectively it's stupid. But to get rid of that you'd need a seismic shift in public attitudes towards college athletics.
