Every situation is different, but essentially, party 1 keeps paying their existing mortgage payments but on party 2's property, and part 2 pays their existing mortgage payments on party 1's property. Or something along those lines.

I see. Essentially some zero-sum co-renting. What if the roof has to be replaced at one of the property (but not the other)?
