Ironically, I *only* ever heard about this when on Bluesky. Every other aspect of my life was completely devoid of the topic. Same with a bunch of other negative or inflammatory topics. Makes me happy to spend less than an hour here a week.

Why not advocate closing the subway? You could advocate for free fares all the time, but then you will need to cover the funding shortfall. Defunding the police won't help with subway infractions or funding public transportation.

You're more like 25 years late! I first started seeing people use it in AIM (AOL instant messenger), AOL chat rooms, Call of Duty and Star Craft games in the very late 90's. It morphed into ROFL and ROFLcopter and whatnot from there.

The argument is that the general public will inherently do the right thing, at all times, without any system to hold accountable those who don't. I simply do not believe such a thing would happen. This is not a defense for poor police behavior, so don't even try to pin that on my comment.

Sure, its easy to brush off true anarchy. But I assure you that you bask in the stability brought by general law and order every single day. Nobody has to play vigilante like Charles Bronson and I assure you that if this were the case, daily life would be much, much worse for everyone.

Its certainly a questionable move in X's part. But on the other hand I had assumed this was already the case. Also trained AI is perfect for spotting/stopping other AI accounts that spam misinformation on the platform, along with other security and safety measures that plague the bird app.
