I'm calling it right now, since Charlie struggles to be assertive towards those around her, she always thought redemption was possible, but she didn't want to make a fuss or pressure Sinners into changing their ways. Vaggie was the one who pushed her to take action and open the Happy Hotel

So when she met Vaggie, Charlie was completely alone. Those she was closest to were either missing or secluded from the outside world. Everyone else looked down on her. Vaggie sincerely loved her, respected her and supported her no matter what, she is exactly the person Charlie needed in her life.

On Charlie's end, Lilith left around 7 years ago, and the pilot hints at her being estranged from Luci for much longer. We know that Seviathan (her ex) was an annoying dudebro, who's family (or at least his sister) doesn't like Charlie. And the majority of Sinners seem to show contempt towards her.

If y'all ACTUALLY LISTENED to Whatever it Takes, you'd know that Charlie was the first person who actually understood Vaggie. But, because she was an exorcist, she feels unworthy of Charlie's love, and it hurts to keep it a secret from her. So instead she supports Charlie and tries to keep her safe.

Charlie changed EVERYTHING for her. She was possibly the first person Vaggie ever met who showed her genuine compassion. On the other hand, given what we've seen, this is the first time a "sinner" is thankful towards Charlie for something. And even the first time they met, they're completely smitten

Given this, how millitant she acts towards other demons, Lute's relationship with Adam, what Lute says to her, and how Adam called her "one of his top girls", her worth as an exorcist was determined entirely on her ruthlessness. She believed this her whole life, so her exile made her feel worthles.

All we know about Vaggie's life before her exile in Hell is in EP3, where we learn that Vaggie learned to trust others in the midst of combat, so it's unlikely she was close to non-exorcists. Her trust was betrayed the MOMENT she spared a demon. She left abandoned by those she was closest to.

from what i've seen i can concur, a good chunk of the fans are between 14 to 17 or barely making it to 18 while the others fall into 20s and 30s and i also know that when I was 14 to 18 and even beyond my media literacy and sense of nuance wasn't all that
