I’m not sure if CNN has such motives. I think they might have an equally stupid, but less sinister motivation. I think they want to make the Presidential election another horse race, because such an election gets them more ratings when it is covered.

I think it is because it is a pretty standard forced birther claim that he has pushed regularly. People are accustomed to it, and that doesn’t make it right. It means people need to push back and call bullshit, especially the moderators.

Watching the debate verified two things. 1. This is an election between two old men, neither of whom should by running. 2. The option is still between a relatively decent old man and an old man who lied for damn near the entirety of the debate and an gaping prolapsed asshole.

I am of the opinion that there are a lot of really REALLY stupid people who are sick and tired of feeling stupid. But rather than put in the work to become smarter, they are attracted to easy sound bites that affirm their stupidity and make them feel like they have “common sense” which beats brains.

Polls are currently a tricky thing, and I encourage people to not put too much stock into them and vote regardless. After all, Hillary was trouncing Trump in the polls (which were misleading for a few reasons) and he still “won”.

It does support the case that Evangelicals generally don’t care if someone follows their “beliefs,” or that they even follow their “beliefs,” but that they care if someone justifies their own hate and gives them permission to express that hate.

I suspect the Conservative justices are trying to wait and determine if they think Trump will win the election, because if they rule he has immunity and then Trump loses, that decision opens Biden up to potentially do a lot of shit that could cripple the GQP agenda, whether or not he actually would.
