Huh. I'm genuinely surprised by that. I wouldn't think even wannabe SF writers now, even those digging through classics, would strongly connect to Ellison. But maybe that's my bias, since I didn't really connect to him in my 20s thirty years ago, let alone now.

I still remember the movie reviews he did for Fantasy and Science Fiction back in the day. Not to mention seeing him on a couple of panels at Dragoncon, which convinced me that I never wanted to be on a panel with him at Dragoncon. (He was hilarious, mind you, but....yeah.)
