Some sort of devops or system or problem refinery. Smooth out everything but make sure you have all your dysfunctions together in one spot that gets scrutiny.

We should make some little icons for houses like they do for laundry. 1. Close doors quicky because of a pet 2. Take shoes off 3. No smoking cigarettes 4. No vaping 5. Vegan house 6. CrossFit house 7. Wi-Fi QR code Avoid that whole pesky moment where you lunge for the door like a psycho.

It's about a woman who feels adhd-like symptoms and the same stimulants that are prescribed for adhd work for her. But as a child she had a tumor removed from her cerebellum. No real info on whether it's a causal relationship. I was being specious.

I love that Ogg's workshop has like a real nice fancy lathe with a sharpened stone for the blade. A planer and jointer made of a bunch of rubble. A whole ton of clamps that are just C-shaped rocks. The dude had all the equipment needed.

The acceleration of this is due to interest rates going up from zero. They know the free ride is over and need to take a big risk to get a big payoff. Turns out they don't know what the fuck they're doing.

MacOS has a way of doing things. Don't customize it for 3 months and then, once you are comfortable doing things the Mac way, you'll like it more in many cases. Also, install xquartz and use ssh -Y to do x11 forwarding from an x86 Linux box somewhere nearby and run Linux stuff over there.

Cancel culture is a good backstop for sure. The first step is shame. Tell them the thing they believe or do is bad and let them reflect. Apology and stopping the thing? Good job growing as a person! Double down or fake apology? Cancel time.

Just make sure it's not Udemy. At AWS Reinvent conference a lady told me she worked for Udacity and I said "I learned Kubernetes through Udemy" because it was loud. Turns out she thinks Udemy is trash and only Udacity is worth the time and energy. Doing Udacity iOS course now and it's pretty good.

@michaelhobbes.bsky.social what's the best way to request a book. I read Principles by Dalio (Bridgewater billionaire) and talked to some folks who work there.

It's a tale of survivorship bias and human suffering wrapped in finance and secrecy. Might get you sued or killed, but plz dunk on it.

It strikes me as a moral imperative to steal a little from every time I ring up my own items. Like I gotta get my salary for the work I put in during the transaction. Otherwise it's wage theft. But I just pay for everything and gripe online.

This is truly alarming because the way political groups recruit now is cult-like. It was southern strategy for a while. Then compassionate conservatism. Now it's even more irrational and in-group/out-group. Incredibly scary to see this change.

I love the "enshitification" principles being applied to tech services. The process is fast and obvious so it's pretty easy to point to examples everyone remembers. What's the enshitification of government services? How is the current approach twisted and wrong, compared the original idea?

Vendor lock-in is such a funny concept. It's one of those things that looks like a thing until you zoom way in and just see integrations. Either with lower level open source stuff, vendor stuff, cloud stuff, hand-crafted boutique stuff. On the contract side, I get it; but not as an integration.

The problem is that it's a diphthong. Not a silent E. The E shifts the vowel sound so instead of luv or lov its lo-ev. Instead of nic or nec it ni-ec. If you want to emphasize a diphthong, you're going to need to use adjectives or adverbs. Otherwise just hope people aren't using a screen reader.
