That’s what I took away from the 2020 primary. Though I think it’s less true when all of the competitive candidates are within the acceptable ideological range.

He had a great line in a Norm Macdonald interview that I often think about. Norm asked him if he quit drinking and he said something like “No, I never quit. I just finished early.”

It would actually be pretty easy for Biden and a small group of powerbrokers to decide on a successor (Harris, Whitmer, etc.) to nominate. Biden staying on the ticket and winning is the ultimate unworkable fantasy.

The election is less than six months away so it’s kinda too late for most domestic things at this point (though laying out a robust, popular second-term agenda as opposed to the BS in the picture would be a start), but an immediate ceasefire in Gaza is achievable and would help more than hurt.
