Having said what you’d have always known, I think it would be great for apps like bsky to integrate Ai to auto generate alt-text for images. This could be reviewed and corrected by users where needed, but would help making the web so much more accessible.

That’s a standard iOS feature. Open any photo or screenshot that contains text, and you can long tap it to select and copy the text.

Bought Bill Watterson’s latest work of art created with John Kascht, The Mysteries. Perused through it and gifted it to my niece who is currently studying design. I think this book will be best liked if one knows the history of how it came to be and the effort that went into it:

Because of its rarity and over the roof demand — mostly by us Konkanis, the cost of these “thunder mushrooms” (gud-gud alambe) tends to be rather high, and this time round it was upwards of ₹1.2K / kilo by the time we could get our hands on some of them here in Bangalore. Blessed to have eaten some!

Konkanis love this rare food — available only for a couple of weeks with the first rains — and excel at making a spicy tangy curry, we call “alambe song”.

Here’s a recipe I found online which closely matches the recipe we have followed for generations in our home:

The first heavy rains & thunder begets these wonderful mushrooms, unique to the Udupi region, called “gud-gud alambe” (thunder mushrooms). As tedious as it is to remove the soft shells of each of these ball-ish mushrooms, it is totally worth the effort being the most divine and tastiest food ever.
