I like voting. I specifically like voting where I live. I like my ten minute walk to the polling station, I like saying hello to the polling station staff like we're old friends. I even like the desperate last minute party representatives clucking around outside like be-rosetted farmyard chickens.

When I moved and realised all the clucking chickens weren’t bothering with my new polling station, I felt so betrayed 😂 Nevertheless it is a fun little ritual

And there's a weirdly wholesome glow to the transaction, right? The fulfillment of civic rights and duties. Democracy. Volunteers scoring you off the list. Church or community halls dusted off and set out with booths. Maybe a biscuit.

And even though I'm usually certain where my X is gonna go, I like giving all the options a good peruse before I do so. Interesting thing on today's paper was realising that all of the candidates lived locally, except one. Reform (home address North Leicestershire) I mean... what? Why, even?
