Sometimes, "I can't, I'm doing something" can include lying in your bed playing phone games because actively resting is necessary

Am wondering if I wrote to Sir Keir wanting to express my "concerns" about trans people in the UK if he'd listen. I write fantasy. I have thoughts.
Of course, I don't have quite the same donation funds. Nor have I pretended to be another gender to my advantage.
Could bung him a fiver, tho

These events are brilliant, worth way more than the ticket, like a mini convention day from the comfort of your own home. You don't have to be British to watch or even take part, and the gamut of discussion ranges into the whole spectrum of SFFH. There are catchup recordings too!

I just finished this novella (Unexploded Remnants by @theelaineg.bsky.social) about a space archaeologist who finds an ancient superweapon and it was so much fun! The worldbuilding reminded me a lot of Becky Chambers. I'd love to real a big doorstop set in this universe.

Same. I'm sure it was more a case of "need to get the tories out" too. Let's hope like the S. Lab folk don't start thinking it equates to a mandate from heaven

Happy to share the poster illustration I did for Gerald McMorrow's new short film EMBERS! ✨
It's an incredible short based on a story by Douglas Adams (that is in turn a retelling of the Sibylline Books), a fable about climate change, greed, and the consequences of our actions.

This is where I have a small, boring bit of advice, from my time managing a customer contact centre for a central government department: write letters to your MP asking them to raise issues with secretaries of state; make the letters unique, not copy-and-paste campaigns; be direct, not cranky.

The idea of a biscuit is lovely though. That volunteers give up their time to make everything run. That it's in your community and for it.

And there's a weirdly wholesome glow to the transaction, right? The fulfillment of civic rights and duties. Democracy. Volunteers scoring you off the list. Church or community halls dusted off and set out with booths. Maybe a biscuit.

I mean I could detour to a Gregg's but that would probably DOUBLE my time outside.
On the other hand, a bacon roll for voting does seem fair. 🤔

Ahh. Voting day. I'll be leaving the house to be in my local polling station within a few minutes. I'll collect my ballot after any id checks, read it, fill it out, and post it. Then I'll leave. Total trip time probably, what 15 mins?
Yes, America, you could have this too.

Only arseholes vote Tory (or Reform).
