Company I used to work for held a huge conference in Vegas every year. When I left they were trying to move it elsewhere (TBD) to better fit the image they wanted to have for the company. And maybe also reduce incidents of customers harassing female employees during the conference.

One possible path if you want to go deeper into web development is to dive into javascript/functional programming/React framework. Alternatively you go into mobile dev with iOS/Swift/SwiftUI or Android/Kotlin/Jetpack. A nice thing is that SwiftUI and Jetpack use the React idiom so /1

An early political memory came back to me this morning. A presidential campaign where age was a major factor for one candidate. At the first debate he appeared weak and doddering and pundits said it fundamentally changed the race. He won 49 states. Debates don’t matter.

The holocaust was so huge and terrible that histories can end up as cold statistics. I grew up with family stories from survivors. Maus does an incredible job of capturing the human suffering.

Again if IIRC in Njal’s Saga, one of the main characters, Njal’s close friend, is outlawed and flees, but gets homesick so he returns early to face the consequences. Njal’s Saga is one of the most violent things I have ever read.

IIRC in the Icelandic saga “Njal’s Saga” it is routine for lawbreakers & troublemakers to be outlawed for 1 year. They are given a day head start so they can choose to flee and seek adventure, often in Norway or at sea. After a year they are welcomed back.
