Pananxious OCD balancer. Squall. Pagan of the Roman stripe. Getting somewhat tired of fardels, but made a coward by conscience.
I used to work in a call centre, and there was a regular caller who used to ring us and he'd say "Good morning" or "Good afternoon", and if you didn't reply with exactly that phrase - and in a tone he felt was suitably sincere - he'd just repeat it, over and over and over, until he was satisfied.

That whole video is just pure joy.

Today I learned that Martha-Ann Alito exists, and wants to put up a "Sacred Heart of Jesus" flag in opposition to a nearby Pride flag.
Yet another supposed Christian, then, who ignores the fact that Jesus made no reference to LGBTQ+ people at all. Though he did criticise the rich and authoritarian.

I love that they could manage 'luncheon', and very nearly 'mayonnaise', but 'sosage' was too much.

I read stories about how other species turn out to be far more intelligent than we understood (Douglas Adams did it with dolphins and mice), and I find myself wishing it was true and that they would ultimately step in and take over. We've proved we can't manage ourselves.

I was thinking along similar lines with regard to the D-Day commemoration. Those veterans suffered and lost so much, but could at least be assured that they paid that price to defeat fascism. Yet those still with us now are having to watch that same corruption arising again. It's heartbreaking.

In Cyberpunk 2077 there's a leg modification that allows you to double-jump. You can use it to get to fairly high places. When you've fallen foul of the law and most of the police department is actively hunting you, you can just hop up to a ledge and wait until they get bored and wander off.

Ugh, yes. Been playing Pacific Drive, and while I'm enjoying it, my GODS the breakability for tools, car parts and such is just *unhinged*. I mean in this case I know that's the point - it's supposed to be a struggle to keep up. But it wouldn't hurt to have a bit of actual realism there.

They're having a "coming of age" for someone who's already a sub-lieutenant?

Obviously the disease is the worst part of this - I do have some sense of proportion.
But frankly it could be a perfectly legit, clean and healthy product with all the standards and safeguards, and I'd still be furious over "Natchur-L".

It does seem a bit baffling, honestly, but I'm in Britain so I can't really judge.
I do wonder though quite how so many people who consider themselves 'patriots' can be so dedicated to opposing public health and education, and not figure it out.

Me too! Certainly on Spectrum, though there were *technically* games (Scramble for e.g.) on the ZX81 which I suppose I should count.

I'm in the take or leave camp for a lot of it but I'm also probably pretty tedious. It's all fun enough, but I've long felt Eps 2, 3, R1, and 4 were pretty much the core. And then Clone Wars and Andor came along and blew everything else out of the water. Andor especially is Top Star Wars.

That second part is mine. No matter how I did it, it would hurt someone other than me. So far that's been enough of a barrier.

Just want to clarify, there definitely aren't swords involved in this, right?
Like, I see one of these things, I'm not going to get surprise-decapitated by a flamboyantly dressed Spanish guy with a suspiciously Scottish-sounding accent?

Glad to hear that. I relate a bit, as I used to write word-stories all the time as a kid. Then Usenet arrived and I started wasting most of my writing time on that. And I never really managed to persuade myself back to writing creatively.

Is it? I thought it was a recognised evolved trait of the human mind. Pareidolia and the like? Or is that different?
(As someone who's spent years on Twitter I feel compelled to mention that the above is not a challenge but rather a genuine expression of interest in something I did not know.)
