In the post, I link to Christian Damböck's paper that suggests there is more distance between his student views and the later ones. But I am happy for folk to trace more continuities. I do think it's odd that this book figures into a de-politicization narrative, but about that another time more

There is at least one powerful disconnection from the post-WW1 earlier work—in it he specifies the political project of the student socialist movement arises from the demand for economic equality sufficient to assure legal (social) equality. I see no trace of that in Rise.
