Also known as Willka Kuti/Machaq Mara (Aymara) and Inti Raymi (Quechua), Indigenous people from 6 countries (Peru🇵🇪, Bolivia🇧🇴, Ecuador🇪🇨, Colombia🇨🇴, Argentina🇦🇷, & Chile🇨🇱) celebrate b/c today's the start of Winter in the southern hemisphere. In Bolivia, Indigenous students in orgs such as MUJA (Julian Apaza University Movement) began reviving Aymara traditions in the early 80s. They were part of the movements of Katarismo and Indianismo and saw the celebration at Tiwanaku of Andean new years as a step to Indigenous Iibеrаtion. ²/
