Lightsabers aren't heavy, like a broadsword.
Jedi aren't fighting in heavy armor.
Force powers aren't proportional to body mass.
It's a perfect fictional universe for Slight Woman Kicks All Sorts of Ass in Awesome Sword Fight under consistent rules.
Man, culture war whining makes people dumb.
This is true and why I've always thought the best Jedi shouldn't even use lightsabers, having advanced beyond physical fighting to purely spiritual.
Except even if you do something like that drumming scene in the wailing this is not good for a popcorn flick
Anyone who has trained in karate, judo, taekwondo, etc. knows that size and mass can hamper your opponent and be your advantage. More women should train in the martial arts. Improve your balance, strength and confidence, your ability to defend yourself, and stay cool in bad situations.
Force powers are, if anything, anticorrelated to body mass!
"Judge me by my size, do you? Hmm? Hmm. And well you should not. For my ally is the Force, and a powerful ally it is." — Yoda
I had a thread on this in the old site, but women can fight with real world swords just fine. It’s a skill, not a pure strength test.
Actual, medieval long swords (a modern term btw) were not heavy; 1.5kg at max. More weight is tiring and slows you down. The idea that these were heavy is fiction.
Unfortunately, these culture-war folks, whoever they are, seem to have “won”—in that the great majority of SW posts I see are referencing / arguing against them. They’ve taken over the conversation by proxy!
It's always bothered me that the lightsabers are always treated as if the blade had mass. You'd accomplish so much more with fast hand/wrist movements than giant arm swings.
