There's a 1994 film in Cymraeg Ymadawiad Arthur with a similar plot. Someone loses the disc with all of Welsh culture on it, bar fragments. This refers to King Arthur who will fix things. So they go back to get King Arthur. And actually get a 1960s rugby player nicknamed 'King' Arthur. Great film

I think he'll fit in well in Starmer's 'Labour'. Voted to support illegal Rwanda recportations. Voted to make it harder for Unions to work. Basically a Sunak Yes-man. He is the very model of a modern Labour General. TBF, he's said he's not standing at the GE.

I created a cool web app using
Ordnance Survey data - British Placename Mapper (placenames.rtwilson.com). It allows you to search for place names that match various criteria (starts with 'great', ends with 'burgh' etc) and plot them on an interactive map. #gis #geospatial #mapping

Sounds really interesting, and I look forward to reading the PDF, but I don't think I'll be putting a copy on my shelves! Even 30% off £108 is still not cheap! Academic publishers really are taking the piss these days! I don't understand the economics of it all.

Massive conflict - it's only a little less than the median UK salary (£34k). This is why we should ban MPs from voting on any matter where they have a potential conflict of interest (as happens in local government). Merely 'declaring their interest' is insufficient.

Well, #bothsides...

I used to live in Peterborough, lots of disused brick pits that had filled with water. They then used them to dump fly ash fromm power stations. which formed a hard crust with gloop underneath. Repeat several times. Then build houses on top? Don't grow anything with deep roots!

On the basis of that statement I think we can safely predict: 1) The Re-Fukers won't be standing against any Tories with a faint hope of winning 2) Lord Farage will be ambassador to the US for a few weeks until he's replaced by Starmer's choice - Lord Sunak.

Okay, there may be other issues with burning trees - smoke pollution, carcinogens etc, but CO2 isn't really one of them. Arguably there is a short term benefit compared to letting the trees die and rot, as that produces some methane, which is 80x more powerful as a greenhouse gas than CO2

But to be fair, the wood burned releases carbon. That carbon is then absorbed by the trees planted to replace the ones burnt. Which are in turn burned in 20 years time. and so the cycle goes on. Zero net impact over time Burning trees that died 100 million years ago doesn't work the same way

It's never-ending! After my (very reasonably priced) builder had sorted my slates we had a chat & decided that come summer, some more work will be needed - rebuild one of the chimneys (scaffolding needed), window painting, wall patching & painting, maybe redo bit of roof - that will not be cheap!
