I don't disagree that an alliance would be a good thing, but there are no further alliances that can happen. We are stuck now with the left and center right playing chicken to get concessions out of the Democrat Party.

She's a progressive Democrat; the progressives don't have their own Progressive Party presidential candidate to tell to stand down. Only Biden is left. Jill Stein and Cornell West don't have enough of the vote to make much of a difference if they stood down. As for RFK, Jr... 🤷🏼‍♂️

You can't give concessions to the center right without pissing on the concerns of the progressives and vice versa. The Republicans used to be an umbrella party as well, but then the 80's, 90's, 2000's, and 2010's happened. And the Democrats and Socialists wouldn't dare collaborate.

A complication in the US is that the Democrats are not an alliance of smaller parties with strong cores of loyal voters, they are an umbrella party that spans progressive to center right with a small core of loyal voters and larger conditionally loyal extremes.

Here's the black longhorn beetle that got itself stuck in my window. I was able to get real close because it was already dead. Very similar body to the cottonwood borer but a more basic black coloring. In this light it looks brown though.

Look at who I found hanging out around my apartment! It is a cottonwood borer. I have been meaning to take pictures of the stupid longhorn beetle that trapped itself between a window and the window screen, but then a black and white version showed up today. Woo!

The only meaningful dissent is an actual protest in the streets, in front of the courts, in view of the legislature, or around the offices of the executives. The laws of the US present no consequences for the political class in the face of low voter turnout or spoiled ballots.

I make fun of AI art because often, AI art is generated for people who lack a critical eye for art and are happy to receive terribly mediocre images in exchange for minimal effort. But if AI art is generated for a poet who wants to dabble in the visual arts, that works!
