It might affect the "drape" of the garment. You could fix that with little snaps or something, but that would be annoying. You'd just have to put them a bit lower down, not on the part where it angles in to the waist, and make the openings for the pockets as short as practical.

which i would totally pay someone else for, because the mechanics of tailoring and drapery are right up there with internal combustion for me. i can probably diagram a sentence for you. probably. outside of that, i am useless.
