I realized yesterday that the Walther piece in the Times, and the Bruenig piece a few weeks ago, are both covertly saying that the end of Roe makes the loss of democracy a good bargain. Except they're aware that now is not the time to highlight the end of Roe, so they're saying it circuitously.

It sounds to me like they're just fishing for free money. Why is it from a "Law Clerk," instead of from an attorney? I think any lawyer you go to will advise you to ignore this.

I saw a picture the other day of an Asian woman wearing kind of baggy pants and you could clearly see, down almost to her knees, a wallet or phone or something outlined under the pants. I wonder if it's a security thing - cut out the bottom of a garment's pockets and extend them way down?

It might affect the "drape" of the garment. You could fix that with little snaps or something, but that would be annoying. You'd just have to put them a bit lower down, not on the part where it angles in to the waist, and make the openings for the pockets as short as practical.

I just figured it out (I'm a bit slow) - the Mathew Walther piece yesterday saying that a monarchy seems good enough to him, and Elizabeth Bruenig's piece a couple of weeks ago saying the same thing - they're saying that democracy is a reasonable trade-off in their minds for abortion being illegal!

This guy seems a bit shaky on how this all works - he mentions IVF, but these women aren't getting donated eggs, just sperm, so no IVF required. The enormity of thinking $50K will cover a child's education is just mind boggling. I don't get the Elon bros and their fawning.

I was taking statins at the time I caught Covid, so I was prescribed a different antiviral, one that didn't interact with the statins. It gave me a very easy disease course once I started taking it, but without the "paxlovid mouth" I keep hearing about. I forget the name of what I took.

It can be unnerving. My mom, after she had retired, got apology letters from former employees in a 12 step program. They felt bad for the trash talking of my mom all the employees used to do. This devastated my mom, who had not been aware. I thought the "apology" was cruel.

Hah! I have a truly large picture window with custom miniblinds on it. I cringe every time one of my kitties fights their way THROUGH the blinds to get at the window to look out. So far so good, though.

Here in Missouri, a grassroots group got together an impressive petition effort and turned in a massive over-collection of signatures to get a prochoice amendment on the ballot this November. AFTER they had turned in those signatures, I started getting emails from PP asking for money for the effort!
