The UK beat back the Conservatives, Modi's BJP lost the majority, Jair Bolsonaro just got indicted, and France is expected to hold back it's right wing party. Pro-Democracy forces have been racking up wins, and it's going to continue in the US if we all do our part.

Shocking that of the top 3 reasons that are virtually tied, BI wrote a whole article on only one, and left out that there are far more people vowing to switch to an EV than revert to gas.

Kevin Roberts should be excommunicated. Mass calls to violence are pretty explicitly against Catholic doctrine.

You have to go back to the foundational theory of right wing law. If Republicans do it: probably legal, if Democrats do it: definitely not.

The delegates that would ultimately do the selection are picked through a popularity contest that has little to do with their credentials, policy positions, activism, or wisdom.

I feel like you can tell how deeply unserious the "Replace Biden" camp is by the fact they keep tossing out names of people that have never run the gauntlet of a national election instead of any of the qualified people from the 2020 primaries.

It was a fine conversation for May (of 2023). I wonder if David Axelrod could get some more of those "Pricks for Biden" buttons he got when he had his little meltdown a while back. Would be a good fundraiser.

It's not just a feel good impeachment. The last Justice that got impeached drastically modified his behavior. It would also serve to inform the public of the rampant corruption. Republicans do this well, which is why they held 7934 hearings on Benghazi. It's effective.

With the rampant corruption and the recent opinions regarding post hoc bribes, can't we just buy some currently sitting ones? Seriously though, Democrats should impeach Thomas and Alito if they take the House, regardless of Senate.

Now that Chevron is gone, I really hope enviro lawyers straight up flood the courts challenging EPA rules that didn't go hard enough. The far fetched ones should be in judicial districts of the right wing ideologues. Don't give them time to run their pet projects.

Why are all these headlines about "Chevron" when the average person has literally no idea what that is. It should be more like "Supreme Court makes massive power grab; decides it will be final authority for science and public health"

The SCOTUS Chevron ruling is a power grab by the Judiciary, asserting that they have powers beyond those of the Legislative and Executive Branch. We have the power, under Article III to weaken their power and it's time we did so. This is how we do it: casten.house.gov/imo/media/do...

Really don't get all the "Why couldn't we have voted for <person who didn't run>" comments. It just seems like someone should have to agree to run for office before we vote for them.

Yeah, I kinda figured Hochul saying the MTA was on board was a lie. Not surprised at all by this rebuke. I am surprised that so many journalists were not more skeptical of her statement. When I suggested the press should get statements from MTA members, one basically said "the gov said..."

I think it's because we saw first hand how awesome the internet could be and then watched it decline. People that are much older probably didn't engage with the internet in the same way and people much younger didn't see the before times.

He is entering Gila National Forest which has the tough CDT section, some steep climbs, and a bit of single track. Once past that, he'll have well maintained gravel and lots of pavement. His main challenge will be the brutal desert sun. Luckily, it looks like it might be partly cloudy and only 90F.

Justinas Leveika is likely going to *smash* Mike Hall's Tour Divide bike race record. As of right now he has 256 miles left and the countdown to the record is only 48 hours and 30 mins. Dot watch here: trackleaders.com/tourdivide24

Looks like Meaghan Hackinen was overtaken by Lael's pace flag. She's sleeping at the racing haven - Brush Mountain Lodge. On Lael's run she passed this and camped for about 6 hours between there and the Clark store. Meaghan would need to leave by about 3 AM to regain her lead. Ana Jager close 2nd!

Out on the Tour Divide bike race Justinas Leveika is ahead of Mike Hall's record run that has stood since 2016 (the year I raced). He's almost to Sargents, CO. This is what happened to my wheel when trying to fix a flat at that gas station late at night...

No, that's HOAs. I'm talking about how HB 5120 was structured in the end. They were going to exempt solar from local zoning, but pushback from certain legislators (including one I spoke to directly) left ones under 50 MW up to townships. Most of my county still has a de facto ban on Ag land.
