They literally stole someone's dog and the killed the poor thing instead of giving it back and admitting they were wrong about their allegations of neglect and abuse towards the dog. "Let's steal a dog we think is abused on no grounds and then kill it! Foolproof!" Peta is the villain.

PETA did apologize and said it was a terrible mistake on their part.
But, again, if you look at who is behind the lawsuit, it is the same people. The family and story were a vehicle for them.
