It's because people don't view comics as a medium that can stand on its own. It's always an "adaptation" or a step towards a movie. "Anyone can do it" "its just collected screenshots" "it's cheaper than a movie"

That’s literally it. It’s why producers were going after movie rights to graphic novels and comics so hard for a brief period - they had a script and everything was already designed with camera shots - but they’d “make it legitimate.”
Incredibly well said. If people could peek behind that veil and see that we're essentially the multi armed guy from spirited away MOST of the time, I think it'd kill the disillusion of comics being "easy" or "money makers" 😒😒😒
