Also, I wish that the solution/reaction to these issues (AI, social media, programs, etc) isn't always "just switch!" It's not a sustainable solution in the long term. You can't just keep running. You can't expect to grow in your craft/area if you're constantly switching & running. You need roots.

Yeah having worked with some of the back of house folks, it seems to be a MESS. Which is frustrating! We need local art orgs for incoming artists to use as a resource. Aahhh I'm preaching to the choir. But goddamn.

HOST (literally set during the pandemic and is HUGELY affected by lockdown) was a great found footage horror movie. Did we think that movie was going to encourage vaccinations? Fauci was watching it like "this COVID thing is getting out of hand"???

I surely don't remember people saying "put COVID in your work or else the government won't consider this global pandemic serious" cuz that was definitely not the vibe in 2020. I think we were all doing the best in these lol .. "unprecedented times".

I had journalists ask me where COVID was in the comic and I'm like "were living it???". And there were plenty of other cartoonist making work including COVID. But I guess non superhero comics don't count??? Idk, it all feels like revisionist history and putting the blame in the wrong place.

It's a double edged sword. You include COVID, you get "why is the comic woke?" Neglect to include COVID, you get "why is the comic not realistic?" I started Heart April 2020 and it wasnt the time or place to be including the global pandemic when Im setting the stage for an entire universe revamp.

It's because people don't view comics as a medium that can stand on its own. It's always an "adaptation" or a step towards a movie. "Anyone can do it" "its just collected screenshots" "it's cheaper than a movie" I hate it
