Growing up there was so much stigma behind ADHD and Autism, that even if they thought you had it they wouldn’t do anything about it. That stigma is still there, in some schools parents have to initiate the discussion even if teachers notice ND traits they can’t tell parents unless they ask.

Apparently one reason they can’t tell parents is that if the school in any way officially acknowledges a disability, they are required to accommodate it even if it’s not diagnosed. At least that’s what happened in our district with our son.
