Interesting to not see any of the cities that are stereotypically βfullβ of furries now days like Denver or Seattle.
I suppose in 1988 the tech industry hadnβt quite taken off yet beyond CA.
Because communities were very close knit and small. It was this way in the anime fandom at that time too. There were penpal lists.
Having lived through the 70's-90's I can tell you, no one really worried about info like we do now. It was rare some weirdo harassed you unless you were famous.
I'm guessing that communities were so tight-knit and local, as well as the circulation of the zines so limited, to make safety not so much of a concern?
