Though uncommon, there are ttRPG professionals who allow the fact they are a big deal within this tiny industry to cause them to engage in bad behavior (especially when inebriated) at conventions. They're usually powerful enough to dodge most consequences.

Any old truism, good or bad, should be viewed with suspicion until confirmed by multiple current sources. A ton of things have changed, and the rate of change seems to be accellerating.

No matter how creative/fast/exciting a game writer you are, if you can't follow the style guide a publisher gives you, they have no reason to think you'll follow any other professional standards.
If they don't have a style guide, look at the things they publish.

Any description of the conditions and norms of the ttRPG industry more than 18 months old is suspect. Yes, even mine. ESPECIALLY mine.
Covid, unions, the OGL-fiasco, supply chains, and changing societal norms all mean old truisms may, or may not, still be true.

"Development" for tabletop RPGs is actually several related but distinct takes. Many are exciting and fun.
Reformatting a manuscript—for clarity, to match house style, and for what your layout artists need—is NOT one of the fun ones.
It's IMPORTANT.
But dull.

Said charity cannot have you or anyone in your immediate family on its board of directors. "I was trying to kill a billionaire" is not an acceptable defense for any other crime you commit while trying to kill a billionaire. The net worth value of this law is tied to inflation.

An artist can literally CHARGE ANYTHING THEY LIKE FOR THEIR ART. Whether someone will pay it or not is an entirely different matter, but you, the external party don't get a vote except: Yes, I'll pay that, or not. That's your limit of input. Please stay on that side of the line. Thanks.

Mandelbrot can change gender, duplicate, heal, grow, shrink, & teleport. Sometimes they can do that all at the same time, sometimes not. Mandelbrot claims they never actually change, they just present different aspects of their complex Nth-Dimension nature.

There's nothing wrong with being a paid tour guide, even if you like showing folks around the city. There's nothing wrong with being a paid GM. It's not "greedy," it's just a monetized hobby. No one is required to use paid GMs, just like no one is required to use a tour guide.

Someone asked me recently why some pdf creators release their DriveThruRPG.com material through Rogue Genius Games instead of themselves. One reason? RGG's mailing list has 10,157 people accepting emails out of our 24,955 customers. That can drive a lot of pdf sales.

Ctharthage is a supernatural neighborhood in Cinncinnati, build in forgotten subway tunnels beneath I75, Mount Storm Park, Carthage Rd Cemetery, the Zoo & Botanical Garden, and Millcrest Park, which all have entrances, and storm drains connect it to the OhioRiver.

Beneath Cincinnati is the largest abandoned subway in the US. The city knows of 7 stations and 3 miles of North-South tunnels, but forgot the 4 miles of East-West tunnels with 10 other stations. These have since become the supernatural neighborhood "Ctharthage."

The Ghost Town of Ranger's Gulch in Oklahoma is perceived by most supernatural entities as not belonging where it is. As being a blight on the area, enforced on it from the outside. How they react depends on each entities disposition.

The ghost town of Ranger's Gulch sits on top of a played-out silver mine. If you visit the town during a new moon, you can talk to a miner's ghost, and buy their pickaxe. A ghost pickaxe can mine up ghost silver from the mine, where silver veins used to be.

The Ghost Town of Ranger's Gulch used to have an itinerant saddlebag preacher come through once a quarter. If you can figure out what that schedule was, you can listen to his ghost's sermon when it visits, and afterward he'll share recent news from the afterworld.

Ranger's Gulch, in the Oklahoma panhandle is a Ghost Town in a roadless, barren, area and there's no reason for anyone to go there... except for people possessed by a ghost. The Rangers of Ranger's Gulch haunt the town, and they don't take kindly to 'possessors.
