My wife is becoming less tolerant of folk in her gardening group(s) who just want to kill every single bug or insect that might be a threat to their previous plants, and has started fighting back with some reality checks.

Good. It’s hard to stand up to groups like that. People don’t realize how interdependent we are with insects. We had pest control for rodents getting into the house. He pointed out the aphids. “Ladybug larvae will take care of it.” He pointed out how aphids left a residue below the roses. “So?”
