Came here to mention how Something Wicked This Way Comes (both the novel and movie) are incredible gateways to horror for young impressionable minds- at least it was for me in the 80s; also, The Ray Bradbury Theater, which I watched religiously alongside the Alfed Hitchcock Presents revival.

The few "nightmares" I remember just tend to be nonsensical (and not in a good, David Lynch way; more in a bad, Uwe Boll way) and/or boring tbh. For instance, I remember one where I was in a zombie apocalypse with fast zombies... but the zombies couldn't hurt me and vice versa because dream logic.
