There are huge monolithic remnants of some past age, ruins so large they're essentially terrain features. I was working my way along one of these fallen structures, and in the distance, a pack of wolves were just running around, playing. I pulled my telescope out and watched them a bit.

I managed to run from it, and I'm glad I did because it was all tentacle and teeth. It's definitely serving the purpose of "You're not supposed to go past here, newbie" I picked up a bow from another merchant (at the south end of the beaches) and I'm now out of arrows. I'll just have to keep -

- not pleasant. I ended up getting some rotting sickness or something because of the gross conditions, and then this red-glowing guy attacked me and clobbered me. In the east, I ran into one of the tentacle balls that's by the western beach, and to my displeasure, it detected me looking at it.

Elden Ring Update: I managed to defeat all the Soldiers of Godrick in the ruins just south of Stormgate. I saved the one heavily armored guy for last, and I threw firebombs at him and lets my ghostly direwolves engage with him. which worked. Whew. I can now reliably get the smoldering butterfly -

Elden Ring: I finally got past the giant in the Stormgate and found the grace marker on the other side (this will help me fast travel back and forth) I found several locations for the smoldering butterflies, some very dangerous. But I should be able to harvest these fire-pot bomb making materials.

Alicent would probably be wise to the fact that Aegon took flight soon after he complained that he was being left out of things and when she told him that he was only good for nothing. So she should know that there wasn't a plan for Aegon to be there.

Gatefront Ruins, yeah. There's a very suave and dangerous looking armored dude there, and some of the regular men-at-arms have dogs. I'll need the assist. I'm still annoyed by that giant past the Stormgate. Will there ever be a time that I can kill these guys? I noticed when I autotarget them -

Okay, #HotD - what an episode! Big dragon battle, in full daylight. Over a pretty large army of Rosby, Stokeworth, and Darklyn auxiliaries of the Crown's troops.
The episode overall reminded me of Hardhome, which had a bunch of intrigue-building talky scenes on the front end and BAM on the back end
