Re-posting to bring more attention to this great opportunity for PA-barred attorneys with the relevant experience in criminal/election law.

How terrible. I also think of all of the small UK businesses which lost their export business from the EU. What a travesty.

I’ve thought about the issue of being close by flying. I actually practiced law in the NYC courts for a little while on behalf of people living in poverty. The Manhattan courts were a blast compared to DC. 😀

My husband is 🇫🇷 & I’ve spent so much time there, but moving away from one’s kid is a big deal. Still, the quality of life is so much better in Europe. Americans mostly have no idea.

I’ll vote blue, of course. If trump is elected, that may be the tipping point.

Are you in the US, now? I ask, because we are in a similar situation. It’s a tough decision, particularly with having an adult child here. There are so many things that are better in Europe than here. 🤔

Truth. I’ve been married to a 🇫🇷 guy forever & have been there tons of times, but I still have so much to learn. There are many nuances.

I donated to the Biden-Harris campaign a few days ago, as well as that of future Democratic Senator Angela Alsobrooks of Maryland. I’ve offered to volunteer for both.

I was surprised to learn that Starmer said the UK won’t rejoin the EU in his lifetime. I don’t live in the UK, nor am I British, but I’d mistakenly thought if Labour won, they’d work hard to rejoin. On what planet is it a good idea to decline to trade w/an enormous trading bloc literally next door?

The pundits didn't count on the French voters. The 67.1% voter turnout, the highest in over 40 years, point to an outright rejection of a far-Right government in favour of a surge on the Left. This is what happens when people show up to vote.

Fascists will be fascists. They also make a lot of money off of it.

For those wondering how this election result happened in 🇫🇷, Le Pen’s fascist party was founded 51 years ago. They have come close to winning many times, but never win enough to succeed. There will always be fascists, but if anti-fascists join together to defeat them, we will always win.

I’ve thought about & discussed this w/🇫🇷 family for years. I think it’s due to 2 things: 1. They have many political parties & enjoy maneuvering, which is possible due to their parliamentary system; & 2. The 🇫🇷 really enjoy debating, as opposed to arguing. Thus, they collaborate, not happily, but yeah.

😀 I’ve been married to a 🇫🇷 guy forever & it’s true that they don’t always show up for elections, because being 🇫🇷 they are always protesting something. 😀 But, Le Pen & her dad before her never get the majority because they are so odious that even a fractured left joins to defeat them.

We rented an AirBnb in the 10th arrondissement where the Gare de Nord is located last month. It was just far enough away from the Gare to make it safe. It was a bit too far away from a metro stop when tired from walking around. The 12th is really nice; I’ll look there next time. My MIL lived there.

I think that’s right. Le Pen & her father before her have come so close, so many times, but never win. Thankfully.

My husband is 🇫🇷. We live in the US, but my lefty 🇫🇷 SIL wasn’t worried. She said that the fractured left would come together to defeat Le Pen & her party & she was right. Of course, the 🇫🇷 left will be fighting amongst themselves tomorrow, but we are happy today.

Thanks. So, how will the PM be chosen if the leftist alliance takes the most seats? My 🇫🇷 husband has lived so long in the US, he doesn’t know the ins & outs & we called my SIL (a lefty) on the Provençal coast, but she didn’t pick up-probably drinking champagne with friends.

I wish I understood what that means. If he is the head of the leftist alliance, what does he have to do to form a government?

Despite being married to a 🇫🇷 guy who has lived in the US since grad school ages ago, I don’t understand. The NFP is a leftist alliance. How is Melenchon the default head of it? The thought of Melenchon negotiating w/Macron is ludicrous.

I’ve never been to Lille. That being said, my husband is from Paris & it’s simply a question of knowing where to live & hang out. I lived & worked in Washington DC for many years, as well as Manhattan for a couple of years. One must be aware of where it’s safe to be in any city.

Bandol is where my SIL lives. My husband’s parents were teachers & had the whole summer off from Paris, & had a holiday home near Bandol. I like it very much, but we’d rather have more to do than meet friends down on the quai.

Thanks, Barry. It seems nice. We had intended to spend more than an afternoon there, but my SIL wasn’t feeling well, so it was impossible. We don’t want to live in Marseille or in my SIL’s touristy village, so Toulon seems like a good choice. Aix & Nice are too far. We’ll plan a trip there.

I don’t see many mentions of Toulon on here, or anywhere for that matter. Were you there long enough to get a good impression of it? My SIL lives in a village about 20 minutes away & we are thinking about moving to Toulon.
