Every actual election held in the past three years has been super normal too.

I’ll at least give him very slight credit for actually laying out the (very stupid) plan. Most “Biden should drop out” takes are basically just 1. Biden drops out 2. ? 3. Trump loses.

If someone has made an evidence-backed case for a specific alternative candidate would be materially more viable, and then explained how (both practically and legally) that specific person could be the nominee, I have not seen it.

Setting aside that he’s been campaigning (he was in Harrisburg two days ago and gave a speech there), the case as to why it should be him is pretty simple—there’s no alternative. Arguing that doing “nothing” is wrong implies that there is “something” that can be done. There isn’t.

In other words, there are perfectly reasonable arguments for Biden not being the nominee. You articulated some. But from an *electability* standpoint I’ve seen no compelling evidence that him stepping aside would help matters.

I don’t disagree that this poll shows that a plurality of Democrats think Biden should step aside. What I’m saying is there’s no real evidence that his doing so, for a specific other named Democrat, would materially increase the chances that Trump loses in the fall.

Seems reasonable, but all available evidence is that the American electorate does not agree with you.

Not directly, sure, but the messaging and talking points filter out through the mainstream and left-wing media too. You are consuming right wing propaganda. Of course, I’m not sure what any of that has to do with anything I said to begin with, so

What’s driving me truly insane is that even the polling does not remotely suggest that Biden should drop out. His polling is terrible, sure, but everyone else’s is just as bad, if not worse! You can’t just have a blank spot on the ballot, it has to be someone specific, a real person!

I genuinely don’t see how you can argue that “sticking with Biden shows the Democrats are hypocrites” when there’s no available evidence that anyone else would do materially better.

This argument presupposes that there’s a) some specific alternative that b) would definitely be better and c) that the Democratic Party could agree on and d) execute.

Musk’s seeming immunity to scandal is imo far stranger than Trump’s. There’s no (direct) partisan polarization, people just don’t seem to give a shit. Almost every entertainer and celebrity in the world is on twitter just as much as ever. Tesla continues to print money. It sucks.

C’mon man. You know as well as anyone that if Biden dropped out (which isn’t happening), the next four months they’d just talk about how weak Harris is, she didn’t win a primary, her candidacy is proof of Dem weakness, she’s not vetted, etc.
