Trying to think of an issue that was 1) really important to Republican voters, 2) a Republican president made huge progress on it, and 3) those voters had no idea anything had happened. Can't come up with anything.

Similarly, most GOP voters today have no idea what Trump did with a few early EOs to hamstring a lot of federal agency rulemaking, or the chaos he caused by maxing out the use of "acting directors" across the federal govt.

The better example is most GOP voters really have no idea what Reagan did with EO 12,291 and OMB review, which probably reshaped the federal regulatory field more than anything since the New Deal. Still impacting federal governance.

Probably a dumb example, but most GOP voters had no idea how many things George W Bush did to build American influence in the developing world, mostly to compete with what China was doing with infrastructure projects there.

Most Republican voters have no idea what anyone actually does. They attribute wins to Trump that never happened all the time. Democrats suck at messaging and a lot of that is because the media always spins their wins into a loss.
