(1/2) Right, it's that sadness is as valid and useful an emotion as any of the others, and that healthy expressions of it are ultimately beneficial - that trying to hide/deny it can cause much worse problems. In a related issue: originally, there was supposed to be an evil sixth emotion, Gloom....

I think you're right they're not *trying* to say that, but when I noticed that ALL Mom's emoti-people are Sadness, just in different colors (the Dad's are all Anger), I was like "Whoah. Bleak, Pixar. Bleak."
