Another thing I love about the #TourDeFrance is the European sports bro theatre that takes place along the route, like this king chugging beer out of a wine glass while riding a stationary bike he had to transport there. I want this guy to come cheer me on when I give public lectures.

Where I am it’s younger people playing pickleball and older people playing tennis. It’s also mainly white people from the suburbs driving into Detroit to use the pickleball courts. That leaves me on team tennis. Also the tennis ball sound is much more enjoyable than the pickleball sound.

The summer exhibit at MOCAD opened tonight. If you’re in Detroit, definitely check it out! 3 of these are from a celebration of Gallery 7, an art gallery that “championed abstraction to uplift voices that had long been excluded from the canon”. I’m already looking forward to going back.

Finally finished House of Leaves by Mark Danielewski. This book captured the existential dread of the turn of the century and the need to find meaning in the unknown. At this point in my life I’m content to sit with the unknown. What should have felt creepy felt clinical a lot of times. 💙📚👀

Back to bike racing tonight. Got to play first pull on the leadout train. Managed to string it out for half a lap so feeling good about that. The sprinter got first or second in the bunch so all in all a success.
