My *sense* is that in the 50s and 60s, the idea of "civic duty" and that shareholders were not the only stakeholders that CEOs/boards cared about, So they didn't have the same incentives to be unethical. Do I have anything solid to back that up? Of course not.

As someone who both 1) won't answer unknown callers, and 2) wants to volunteer with various campaigns, I'm kind of at a loss. The one thing I can do to help out, particularly in swing states, is something I doubt is effective, and suspect might be counterproductive.
