Richard Feynman, noted sex pest physicist, told a story about when he was brought into Los Alamos. Several engineers showed him this thick, inscrutable sheathe of schematics for the uranium extraction plant. Endless pipes and valves and symbols and holding tanks and such.

They're walking him through the whole extremely complex process, and he's nodding along as if he's following along. At some point he realizes he can't just ask "hey, what does this symbol mean?" because he spent too long acting like he understood them.
