They have an effective upper limit on size even if they never truly stop growing. As they age the growth rate slows to the point that it’s negligible.

I’m not an expert but I’ve read that koi will eat frog eggs and tadpoles. If you’re hoping to benefit native wildlife with the pond that’s something to consider.
