The only thing keeping Reload from being the *definitive* Persona 3 experience is the omission of the female protagonist's campaign from Persona 3 Portable. It's unfortunate, but maybe a separate release in the future? 🤞

What I played: Persona 3 Reload (PS5, 2024) Developed and published by Atlus A complete remake of the classic Persona 3 FES with countless QOL enhancements, an updated OST, and an exceptional voice cast. I loved P3FES and was broken by its story, and I wondered if P3R would do it justice. /1

Randomly remembering Nintendo's Game Boy Micro, a tiny Game Boy Advance with a 2-inch screen that came out *after* the DS. It's a cute lil gadget, but I never could understand who was the intended customer for this thing. If hand cramps and eye strain were a console, this was undoubtedly it.

Battle Royale (2000)
The Japanese cult classic that spawned an entire genre. In an economically and socially devastated Japan, lawless high school students are sent to a deserted island where they must fight each other to be the lone survivor. Bleak and darkly satirical.

What I watched: Kimagure Orange Road: I Want to Return to That Day (1988) While preparing for graduation and university, Kyosuke must choose between his two love interests -- young, infatuated Hikaru and mature, elegant Madoka. A poignant and bittersweet finale to the classic 80s anime series.

What I played: Forspoken (PS5, 2023) This game was (unfairly IMO) dogpiled at launch. The truth is, it's a solid middle-of-the-road open world RPG that might have some pacing issues, but features super fun traversal and battle mechanics, and a story that delivers if you're patient.

Agreed. There was some debate over on Threads about whether moviegoers understood what ST was back in the day. My gut feeling is most people didn't, including critics (I can't say I totally got it either). It was promoted as a dumb, bombastic action flick. I appreciate it *much* more now.

What I watched: Starship Troopers (1997) Not my first watch, but since it's back in the zeitgeist thanks to surprise game hit Helldivers 2, I had to revisit Starship Troopers. A searingly satirical portrait of a fascist, militaristic society, Verhoeven's film resonates more today than did in 1997.

What I watched: The Marvels (2023) Don't believe the negativity about this movie. The Marvels has all the chaotic energy, sense of fun, and relentless momentum of a Saturday morning cartoon, with a likable cast and great action scenes. An entertaining flick!

What I watched: Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny (2023) More nostalgia act than sequel, your enjoyment is likely to depend on how much you needed closure for Indy and his cast of supporting characters. FWIW a better cap to the series than Kingdom of the Crystal Skulls.
