Early run flats were so stiff that they had a very harsh ride. To improve the ride, tire makers went with much softer rubber. This worked to soften the ride, at the cost of longevity.

The one good thing about Mini is they're fun to drive. But the range and practicality suck. Styling is what it is, but I found it gimmicky, personally
