We need to reframe the whole moral panic of students on campus in the 2010s. It was never about "Freedom of speech", it was that students were protesting positions the opinion columnists agreed with.

It's perfectly fine to have questions, or concerns, about something. But, as a rule of thumb, the people asking undirected questions on big public platforms are not actually looking to have their questions answered.

These days in the US Senate you only have to announce your *intention* to filibuster, you no longer have to do the actual talking bit. But there are examples from before that rule of Ted Cruz reading Dr Seuss for 14 hours straight

The problem is the businesses and cyclists want completely different things. The cyclists want a traditional protected bike lane on the shoulder, which would force the businesses to remove their parklets. Meanwhile the businesses want no bike lane at all. This was an attempt at a compromise
