Pecker was a very effective witness for the prosecution. The only real hope for an acquittal here was providing some plausible explanation for the payments that had nothing to do with the election. As for Jan. 6th, the sprawling nature of the conspiracy is a challenge (plus the immunity issue).

Pecker was interesting. I thought the best Trump strategy would have been to throw Weisselberg under the bus (since his handwriting was on the documents) and argue Pecker was continuing his longstanding catch-and-kill arrangement (proving the payment was not campaign related).
