Very sad to see so much #whataboutism from Democrats about Biden's condition.

I'm not keen to find out what a Trump presidency looks like now that he doesn't have to worry about the criminal code. Everyone should be pressuring Biden to step down.

Crazy time. Dean Edley and others defended him on academic freedom grounds. The Dean's argument was effectively that nothing short of criminal conviction would justify terminating him. Presumably, disbarment for his government-sponsored torture work would have been insufficient.

I'm not the first to observe the parallels between Biden and RBG, but it's unquestionably the case that knowing when to step down is a key part of one's legacy.

I think the consensus is that Biden bombed, and Trump did himself no favors either. Early data seems to show that third-party candidates benefited the most.

The Biden campaign's post-debate spin is that he isn't as sharp or articulate as he used to be, but the other guy is a liar. Points for doubling down on the existing narrative, I guess.

I missed about 5 minutes of the debate in total. Biden was marginally better in the second half of it but was generally ineffectual throughout. Bad debates happen, but he could not meet the very low expectations that voters set for him.

Biden just confirmed every doubt that voters have about him. Harris's approval numbers are a bit lower than his currently, but she isn't as known a quantity, so there is room to improve. Pair her with Whitmer, and you might have something. At the very least, she'll counter Trump's lies.

Just amazing political malpractice by the Biden campaign to not focus on Trump's felony convictions or defend DA Bragg, so that the media can return to more important issues such as the President's advanced age and relationship with his son.

Some people seem to be shocked that the Columbia Law Review website is still "under maintenance," but please remember, this is the first time that a scholar has attempted to publish a contested historical claim in a law review.

The Trump NY case revealed something about the modern-day legal academy. The case was largely ignored or derided, while profs obsessed over what the "originalist" Supreme Court would do with disqualification and immunity. Most of us are probably more familiar with Griffin's case than state law.

The only people who've ever held Trump meaningfully accountable over the last nine years have been ordinary Americans and they've spent that entire time being lectured to and berated by elites who've failed to do anything.

Pecker was a very effective witness for the prosecution. The only real hope for an acquittal here was providing some plausible explanation for the payments that had nothing to do with the election. As for Jan. 6th, the sprawling nature of the conspiracy is a challenge (plus the immunity issue).

I think that it is a stronger case than the Jan. 6 cases. Facts weren't really in dispute, and there were no immunities for the DA to worry about. The Florida case would have been a slam dunk if Smith filed in DC. Some folks just hate the NY case because it seems like an end-run around FECA.

The big news here in terms of abortion rights is that conservative groups are affirmatively arguing that women who seek abortion care are criminals. This isn't the law in Texas currently and is contrary to much of these groups' rhetoric pre-Dobbs.

The ICC arrest warrants are unambiguously good news if you believe that Netanyahu is a major obstacle to peace. Unfortunately, the Biden administration believes that it can still work with him, despite all the evidence to the contrary.

Consider my mind boggled. In 1968, Columbia demonstrators literally held a Dean *hostage* for 26 hours, and not only did he not retaliate after being released, HE WROTE SOME OF THEM REFERENCE LETTERS.

But now it is just straight to the cops.

There is some chance that two of President Biden's most consequential and principled actions - ending the Afghan war and opposing the Rafah campaign - will cost him the election. The American electorate has been conditioned to accept magical thinking about foreign policy.
