let’s be crystal clear— the great barrington declaration folks wanted to intentionally infect most of the US population w/ a new virus before a vaccine was developed & before omicron, when containment policies were much more effective. biden’s strategy was not GREAT, but it was not THAT

Biden's strategy was exactly that, just in the period after a vaccine became available. That's why he declared "vax & relax" in May 2021, four months after taking office, to the shock and horror of most knowledgeable medical and public health authorities concerned with actually stopping COVID spread

biden was also greatly limited by a congress w/ bipartisan hostility to funding and public health emergency powers. (before late 2021, congress was supportive of many more public health measures and funding.) GBD had many more policy options available to them, yet they still wanted mass infection
