Fourth human H5N1 case reported, this one in Colorado, alongside more dairy cattle and cat detections.

Again, the person had mostly mild eye-related symptoms and responded well to tamiflu. 🧪

Note that the CDC is hedging on the N1 part, since it’s not certain that there will be enough viral material to sequence - H5 detection can be done via PCR. One does slightly wonder what it would take to get a combined hemagglutin/neuraminidase PCR assay at this point.
